The month of May was a great month for Rotary Community Service!
On May 20th our Club partnered with the Fair Lawn High School Interact Club in conducting a clothing and shoe drive for the Rotary Day of Service which involved Rotary Clubs across 5 states and Bermuda!
Our clothing and shoe drive resulted in the collection of 65 bags of clothing to help those in need. We also received a last minute request from the Fair Lawn Veterans Affairs Office for women's professional clothing and shoes for a project providing business clothing, accessories, and shoes for a project later this year for women Veterans entering the job market and preparing for job interviews. Earlier in the month, on May 7th, we once again worked with the FLHS Interact Club on a Food Drive in conjunction with our Henry Penneno Pedals for Progress Used Bicycle & Sewing Machine Drive. We were able to redirect 62 bikes and 4 sewing machines from landfills to help those in need in Belize. These donations not only save our limited landfill space, but provide economic opportunities in other countries as persons will have the tools to learn skills to improve their lives and provide for self growth and self sufficiency.
Fair Lawn Rotarians are always looking for ways to Lend a Hand to Those In Need Around the Corner and Across the Globe. These two community service projects are just a small example of the power of Rotary to help others. Join us and find your strength in giving back.
