Special Needs Students - Job Sampling Initiative
Ray Falcon, a 17 year Rotarian and Past President of the Park Ridge Club joined us at our meeting today. Here he is, pictured below, with our Club President Marcello Gloria. Ray spoke about the District wide initiative to place special needs students with local businesses.
Ray is working with 38 accredited special needs private schools in Northern NJ. The aim is to help them place some of their higher functioning students to give them an opportunity to participate in the workforce while allowing the school to evaluate the students capability to engage in gainful activity.
"We have learned that these schools are in constant need of internship positions for their students," said Ray. "Many Rotarians own or work for the types of smaller businesses that would be ideal for such student placements."
If anyone would like to be a part of this worthwhile effort, please contact Adult Service Coordinator, Karen M. Koehler. She works with Ray and can be reached at kkoehler@falconsinger.com.
