Rotarian's Ken Boston, Kevin O'Rourke and Rob Parker spent the day on Thursday helping out with the clean up effort in Little Falls.  As Kevin said, "It was a back muscle messy challenge that made helping kids onto ponies seem easy!"  We are sure the folks in Little Ferry are gratefull for the help, yet there is still much to do.

Please see the District's latest communications if you would like to know how you can help out. (Click on "More" below)  More pictures in the Photo Album section.

Thanks Ken, Kevin and Rob for making all of us at the Rotary Club of Bergen Highlands/Ramsey proud!

Disaster Relief District 7490 Committee Announcement #6

For the 30+ that answered Thursday morning’s call for help, thank you! We unloaded 2 full trucks and sorted them and the box truck load that came the day before. It was a great day. We have already distributed what could fill a tractor trailer. Please see DG Bonnie’s report for more news on our efforts, it is posted at www.nynjrotary.org.

We hope to receive 2 more trucks tomorrow then sort and distribute on Saturday 9:00 to 12:00 at the 799 Route 17 South. If you haven’t already said that you are coming on Saturday, we probably don’t need you, instead stay posted for the next call for help. To date 100+ Rotarians from District 7490 and 50+ Bergen County Volunteers have helped in our efforts to help those in need.

On Saturday we hope to pack up and make deliveries to Moonachie, Jersey City, Hazlet, Long Branch, Asbury Park and Brick. Thereafter we will continue to collect bottled water, non-perishable food, baby diapers and food, pet food, batteries and flashlights, new coats and blankets, new hats and scarves, new coats, new linens and pillows, new bedding, ,new clothes for people of all ages. Please note that we CANNOT accept any old or used clothing or bedding of any type.

Our greatest needs now are cash donations and gift cards for stores such as Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart and Target, so that displaced residents can buy food, supplies, etc. to rebuild. Please send donations to the Rotary District 7490 Walter D. Head Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, c/o Calisto Bertin, Bertin Engineering, 66   Glen Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ 07452, USA.

Thank you for concern, help and prayers,

Yours in the spirit of Rotary,

Peter Wells, Disaster Relief Chair for District 7490
