Mayor Vince Barra Visits Rotary

Vince Barra, the Mayor of Allendale, visited us today.  Pictured below, Club President Marcelo Gloria presents the Mayor with a plaque making him an Honorary Member of our Rotary Club.

After several years as a member of the Allendale Town Council, Vince was elected Mayor in 2007.  "The first order of business for me was to get our property tax increases under control", the Mayor said.  "With a lot of hard work and negotiation we were able to make progress.  In 2011 and 2012 there were no property tax increases and I am hopeful that we will not have an increase in 2013."

Vince is proud of Allendale.  He said "we are the Mayberry of Bergen County, a little town where everyone knows each other".  The most rewarding aspect of his tenure as Mayor has been the establishment of two facilities in Allendale dedicated to housing people with special needs.  "Demand for services still exceeds supply but I am gratified with the progress we have made and thankful for the support of Allendale's residents to get this done", the Mayor said.
