Who Was Walter D. Head?  Walter D. Head was born in Revere, MA. A graduate of Harvard and Columbia Universities, he started teaching in 1902. In 1925 he became Headmaster of the Montclair Academy for Boys, he worked with the Church Peace Union and World alliance for International Friendship through Religion. In 1950 Mr. Head was elected a member of the Board of Trustees of Bergen Junior College, and in 1951 became President of that institution. In 1954 Bergen Junior College merged with Fairleigh Dickinson college where he became Provost of the Teaneck Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson. Walter Head first became a Rotarian in 1919. He was a former member and Past President of the Rotary Clubs of Buffalo, NY, and Montclair, and Teaneck, NJ. He was also very active in Rotary International, serving as Chairman of several committees, District Governor, RI Director, RI Vice-President and ultimately RI President in 1939-40. After the war Mr. Head was one of RI’s consultants to the American delegation at the United Nations Conference on International Organization in 1945 and later served as an observer for RI at meetings of the UN Economic and Social Council in New York. Walter Head died in 1967 at the age of 86.
