I was born and bred in Port Lincoln which to me is the most beautiful city on earth . I have lived most of my life in Port Lincoln excepting for 2 years in Fremantle where I was navigator on South Australias Americas Cup defence yacht South Australia . I have worked in the family real estate company Kemp Real Estate for 30 years during which time I have seen Port Lincoln develop into a thriving regional city driven by fishing and farming . I have seen the stunning developments of aquaculture change our city and lifestyle and put our region on the world stage .

I still sail competitively in my leisure time and have represented Australia in America’s Cup and Admirals Cups and have competed  in 15 Sydney to Hobart races .

Melanie Irons, 30, may not have an emergency management, logistics or government background… but she learns fast! In January 2013, Mel created a Facebook page on a whim in response to seeing a huge amount of information being provided or searched for on social media during the devastating Tasmanian bushfires.

The page exploded, and by accident, Mel played a pivotal role in supplying the bushfire-affected community with information, support, donations and assistance, and empowered the general population to "help". Through the page, the Tasmanian community rallied together and achieved a phenomenal amount in a co-ordinated, well-managed way.

Mel has since been awarded the Golden Wattle Award 2013, 2013 Resilient Australia Award, has presented at many conferences and been the subject of an ABC Australian Story. A PhD candidate at the School of Psychology in Tasmania, Mel is using the data she collected from her Facebook page and is analyzing it as part of her PhD research.

Local identity Emma Forster lives life to the full. As a tourism operator of the “Swim with the Tuna” world class viewing platform, Emma knows how to market the delights that Port Lincoln has to offer.

Having lived or visited many corners of the globe, Emma attributes her ability to travel and communicate easily to her experience of being a Rotary Exchange Student to Japan. Emma has delightful stories of her time being hosted by her stoic Japanese “mother” and she may have time to explore her spare time loves of skydiving, white water rafting, diving with great white sharks, race car driving or her role
