On 2nd and 3rd of February the D9500 Youth Exchange Committee held a debrief for the recently returned 2012 outbound students and their parents at Port Lincoln, which incidentally, was from where 4 out of 5 students came.

Our weekend was hosted by the Rotary Club of Port Lincoln and Kelly Paynter’s (FRA) parents Mark and Terisa. They home-hosted our social activities on Saturday evening and the debrief meetings on the Sunday morning. We completed the sessions with a boxed lunch at Puckridge Park, a municipal park with a magnificent view, which the Rotary Club of Port Lincoln is proud to continue as an ongoing project, improving and maintaining it on behalf of the City Council and the community.

We were privileged to have DG Marie Dorrington and her husband Ken drive over (being available at the last minute – so to speak) to take part in the debrief sessions with the students and join in the fellowship with everyone around the home-built pizza oven with a red or two on Saturday evening. Committee members Raphaela Oest, Anthony and Val Masson travelled from Adelaide as well, and Bodie Henderson’s Counsellor, Craig Sumsion, and a fellow Rotarian John Davis travelled from Roxby Downs.

We were also fortunate to have two local Rotex Students take part in the debriefing; Jasmin Boyce (DEN 2007) and Melina Benson also (DEN 2009).

Both young ladies are back home after studies, and busy working in our community.”
