Our History

Formation of the Club
A meeting was held in the Civic Hall Pt Lincoln on the 28th April 1949 at which it was decided to form the provisional Rotary Club of Port Lincoln.
Representatives from the sponsors; P.D. Governor, Eric Short, P.P. Len Clarkson and P.P. Ern Milner, from the Rotary Club of Adelaide attended and Jim Crotty was elected President and Keith Jacobs, Secretary.

The Charter night was held at the Pier Hotel on the 25th October 1949 with President Tom Erickson of the Adelaide Club as Chairman.
Twenty-one visitors from Mt Gambier, Port Adelaide, Unley, Adelaide, Victor Harbor, and Mildura were present to represent their various clubs.
The Charter was presented by the then District Governor Reg Etherington of the Mildura Club to President Jim Crotty
The club met Thursdays at 6:15 pm at the Paragon Café Port Lincoln with an authorised locality of the Town of Port Lincoln and a 25-mile radius therefrom.
Since the club’s charter it has sponsored two other clubs, the Rotary Clubs of Whyalla and Ceduna.
The club has also sponsored the Port Lincoln Men's and Ladies Probus Clubs plus the Combined Probus clubs for Port Lincoln, Cummins and Ceduna
