Sports Person of 2016
Port Lincoln Rotary partnered with local radio station 5CC, Magic 89.9 and with Port Lincoln City Council to recognise sporting achievement in the Lower Eyre Peninsula region. The Junior and Senior Sports Person of the Year awards for 2016 were presented by Olympic gold medalist Kyle Chalmers at a dinner at Ravendale Sports Centre on Saturday night the 14th of January.
Port Lincoln Rotary has presented a Sports Person of the Year for many decades now but this new award pulls together Rotary's and other similar awards, to make the one premier award.
Cricketer Ben Smith (Senior Sports Person) and young tennis star Charlotte Nicholls (Junior Sports Person) were recognised as the inaugural winners of this new award.
