Guest Speaker Larry Sorokes - OBD = Olean Business Development

Olean born and bread, Larry Sorokes, spoke to our Olean Rotary Club about the vision and progress of the Olean Business Development.

 

When introducing Larry, Acting Past President Dennis Casey, noted that Larry won the Olean Rotary Talent Show back in the 1970's! (He claimed to be 6 at the time!  )

 

The former site of the Olean Business Institute was purchased and is now the home of OBD - Olean Business Development. The value proposition centers on a vision for the viability of Olean for future generations. Their vision is to build Olean into a vibrant and prosperous community where people want to come, visit, stay, play, and/or work.

 

Proud of the system they have pioneered, Larry boasted of space for start-up companies, a "shark tank" committee where people can vet their ideas for new businesses, and a single point of entry for many new ideas and business planning.  "Olean Business Development is a leader in the new era of economic development for downtown Olean through smart growth and empowering entrepreneurs." There is room for those who might like to serve on a committee of interest.

 

It was clear that Larry is a good leader for the "climate of caring" that Olean Business Development aspires to be! Thank you, Larry!
