February 20, 2017 Meeting Minutes

>Our hosts from Walsh started with the program while members enjoyed the GREAT lunch prepared by the Walsh kitchen staff. THANK YOU! See separate article.

>Tony (with an assist from Dennis) presented the club with a $1000 check from the Allegany Limestone Interact Club for water projects in Africa. Carl will contact Mike Conroy for more details. THANK YOU ALCS INTERACT!

>Dennis announced a meeting @ Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation office in the OBD building on N Union St. on Friday, Mar 3 @ 10:30 am with Karen Buchheit to continue the process recommended to join and have the foundation manage all monies related to the Silent Policeman and other community enhancement projects. All members are welcome to attend. (Dennis, Mary Kay, Jody & Patty attended. Separate communication regarding the details, including formal request from Board to sign an agreement with the CRCF and transfer and collection of funds from member donations.)

>Al described details he is working on to have live video feed while our Stone Artist, Isaiah, carves.

>MK described and gave members present an opportunity to meet a challenge to raise monies in house for the SP project that she and Carl began. Signed commitments with dollar amounts were from Carl, Mary Kay, Elena, George, Dennis, Doug, Eric. Commitments without dollar amounts were from Sandy, Jenice, Al, Rin, Jody, Risa. THANKS ALL. Others will be given opportunity. Checks made out to the CRCF are appreciated and needed ASAP to begin to meet expenditures for the project.

>Doug made announcements and routed signup sheets for our Grade 3 Dictionary project. Tony, Mary Kay and Doug will present at Portville on Mar 1. $ more dates/schools are set. Still waiting for dates and times for Washington West in Olean for 2 separate presentations. New members are encouraged to join the fun in a distribution assembly near you! Usually only takes 30 minutes!

>Carl reviewed March speakers. MK noted they are ALL scheduled and appear in our speaker/events calendar that are part of the ROLEAN distributed electronically and appearing on the web page.

>Carl is traveling again soon to Mianmar for Alliance for Smiles and cleft pallet surgeries. Board of Directors will discuss a contribution from the club to support the work (not Carl's personal expenses!).

>Tony announced the acceptance of our SLAPSHOT application. Victoria Gulnac will be our rep. Tori as an OHS senior and daughter of PE Patty and grand-daughter of member Jim. Tony detailed, too, his vision of sending one member from each of the Interact Clubs that we sponsor next year as undercalssmen who would then, in turn, serve as officer/leaders in their home Interact clubs. Great idea!

>Tony noted the member donations for Friends of Scouting to support summer scholarships are almost all in. See Tony for details!

>Al Bernstein was the taker for our 2 Olean Community Theatre tickets that come with our sponsorship of their 38th season. The show, THE BIG MEAL, is in production at the Palmer Opera House in Cuba NY Mar 3-4-5. Our business sponsorship gets our name in each program!
