This coming Thursday is Coffee Catch-up at the White Picket Café and is the last “official” meeting of the Rotary year for Adelaide Light. I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to each Director and all our members for supporting all of our International, Youth, Community, Environment and Club activities over the past year.
As our formal Club Changeover is scheduled for Saturday 18 July at the Reform Distillery, President-Elect Kirsti has asked that I continue to write the President’s Pen until I hand over the reins on the day (which I’m happy to do).
Membership Discussion Changed to 9 July - At last Thursday’s dinner meeting, Kirsti scheduled an evening video-conference discussion on Membership led by Rob McLennan and Alison Carter (as they recently attended a District 9510 event on the subject); this has now been cancelled and Rob and Alison will present their valuable findings at our Breakfast meeting on 9 July from 7.00am at the South Terrace Croquet Club.
If you can re-arrange your schedules to come to this breakfast meeting, we would all benefit from their debrief on Membership and we would value your input and suggestions on finding new and active members to continue the great works that our Club has undertaken over the past 40 years
This is a very important topic for our Club to discuss as our membership numbers dropped this year – however, in reality, most of those members were mostly “in name only” members as they didn’t attend meetings and their circumstances changed making it hard to attend projects too (but they have all opted to remain as “Friends”). The other two long-standing, active Rotarians were made Honorary members.
This Membership debrief at Breakfast will also be a great discussion-starter for Kirsti’s Strategic Planning meeting which is scheduled to take place at our Kent Town dinner meeting on Thursday 23 July.
