Mitchell's outstanding 2018 Kalmar Shiraz
Our happy little Rotary Club has just acquired a pallet of Mitchell's outstanding 2018 Kalmar Shiraz @ $150/dozen - a cut above the average shiraz.  🍷
2018 was a fine vintage and it sells on Wine Direct for $45/bottle but China’s helped us to offer it for 70% less than that… so, it’s understandably popular.
Perhaps you'd fancy a case or two of this lovely drop for the cooler weather ahead?

If you’d like some for you or your friends, contact me or my colleague, Rob...
Then please pay the $150/dozen by EFT to:
Rotary Club of Adelaide Light

Reference: (Your name) Kalmar.

This year's fundraising will among other needs, help us towards building our next Timor Lesté community project, Australia's nearest north-west neighbour.

Warmest regards,

The Kalmar Vineyard takes its name from the homestead that has housed the Mitchell family for three generations. A classic Clare Valley Shiraz with style and great flavour.

T A S T I N G N O T E
A delicious example of Clare Valley Shiraz. blue forest fruits, bay leaf and a smooth finish. a perfect balance of fruit and acid make this the perfect Shiraz for all occasions. Will continue to develop over time, although drinking beautifully right now.

G R O W I N G C O N D I T I O N S
2018 growing season was warm and dry. Despite this, the vines were in a perfectly balanced and healthy state heading into vintage. All  canopies in the vineyard were strong and full, the fruit set and ripening was consistent with fantastic flavours. Clare Valley at its best!

W I N E M A K I N G
The juice for this wine was fermented open slate tanks, including a whole bunch component. Hand plunged and a slow ferment to capture the natural flavours from the vineyard. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 18 months before being bottled without filtration.

Mitchell's Alcatraz '22 Riesling sales

Mitchell - Alcatraz Riesling 2022
Mitchell’s three key Clare Valley vineyards range in
altitude from 300 to 450 metres; the Sevenhill
Vineyard, Alcatraz Vineyard and Growers Vineyard.
Their Alcatraz Vineyard in the heart of Clare Valley was
planted in 1962 on an exposed easterly facing slope
and nicknamed "Alcatraz" as there was no escaping
the cold, wet winter days spent working the vines. Its
old vines are grown on red loam over limestone soils
with an east-facing slope that receives the gentle
morning sun but is sheltered from the direct sun in the
heat of the afternoon.
The dry grown vines are hand pruned and hand-
picked with no artificial fertilisers, pesticides or
herbicides used in growing these grapes. This largely
explains why the vineyard produces award-winning
quality wines year-on-year.
This medium bodied, dry white wine is a delicious
Riesling with generous flavour and refreshing acidity.
It’s a crisp, mouth-watering wine that’s ready to drink
now, comparing well to much more expensive wines
.

Our busy little Rotary Club now has another pallet of the lovely Mitchell's 2022 Alcatraz Riesling @ $130/dozen.  🥂
It’s about half price and highly popular with many enquiries already.  Perhaps you'd fancy a delicious cold glass or two during Mad March?

If so, please quickly contact John or Rob...
Then please pay the $130/dozen by EFT to:

Much of this year's fundraising will help build some water and sanitation projects in Timor Lesté, just north west of Darwin.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To have fun and engage interest from new members and friends as we use our strengths for a better world here and abroad - a welcoming, flexible group having fun doing hands-on activities for positive impact.

Jokes Corner
A priest was being honoured at his retirement dinner after 25 years in the parish.

A leading local businessman and member of the congregation was chosen to make the presentation and give a little speech at the dinner. He was delayed, so the priest decided to say his own few words while they waited. "I got my first impression of the parish from the first confession I heard here. I thought I had been assigned to a terrible place. The very first person who entered my confessional told me he had, some years ago, stolen a television set; and, when questioned by the police, was able to lie his way out of it. He had stolen money from his parents, embezzled from his employer, and had taken illegal drugs.

I was appalled. But as the days went on, I knew that my people were not all like that and I had, indeed, come to a fine parish full of good and loving people."

Just as the priest finished his talk, the businessman arrived full of apologies at being late. He immediately began to make the presentation and gave his talk. "I'll never forget the first day our parish priest arrived," said the business. "In fact, I had the honour of being the first one to go to him in confession."

Moral: DON'T EVER BE LATE
