This week - now we have the return of many members who were away for our last Thursday breakfast meeting - Paul Jupp has kindly agreed to continue his think tank for our Club’s fundraising efforts in the future. I had many members ring me to let me know how much they enjoyed his breakfast session think tank. We will also have a debrief from John, Kirsti and Rob on their tour of Timor Leste. This will be a great meeting on both counts!
Last week was the Area 12 dinner for the Adelaide-based Rotary Clubs. This annual dinner is a great get together and enables a catch-up of major projects that each Club has undertaken. Each President was asked to provide a 2-3 minute presentation on their projects. I choose to speak about our popular and award-winning Cuppa Conversation. I had a lot of comments after the presentation about the value of this project and Lili’s management of it. I also mentioned our Timor Leste water projects past and future, and that we had a delegation of three currently in Timor Leste scoping out our future project that we would be seeking a Global Grant for. We’ll be showing a 5 minute photo presentation at the Changeover Dinner (on 21 June) on John, Kirsti and Rob’s tour of the project.
A trip for the Cuppa Conversation migrants has been arranged for Saturday 25 May (photo of Victor Harbour taken last Saturday). We have booked a 24-seater and 12-seater bus which will allow about 30 guests and Rotarians on board. Any overflow may be covered if Rotarians wish to drive their car down with extra passengers on board when we do our tour of Victor Harbor, Pt Elliot and Goolwa. The trip will start at 9.30am and we’ll be back in Adelaide around 4.00pm. Lili will arrange seating and extra cars/drivers if required.
Our Club’s Changeover dinner will be held in the Barton Room in the Caledonian Hotel, O’Connell Street, North Adelaide on Friday 21 June, 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Please keep this date free for our annual event. Vegetarian and Gluten-free options available. Again, this year, there is a Starter Plate to share on your table; and you can choose from the $40 options including Crumbed Prawns, Thai Beef or Tofu Salad, Fish, Schnitzel (chicken or Cauliflower) etc; or the $54 option of Atlantic Salmon, Chicken Balllotine, slow cooked Lamb, Beef Duo or Mushroom Ravioli. Dessert and coffee/tea/wine can be ordered separately at the bar. Please let Yvette know if you will be attending with your partner, family or friends – or if you will be an apology - on ymr@live.com.au by Thursday 13 June so that I can provide numbers to the Hotel.
