Firstly, I am deeply saddened by the catastrophic Nepal flash flooding disaster and my heart goes out to the Nepalese people and all those affected. At a board level, we decided to donate $2500 via the RAWCS fund, struck by the huge impact and need. A ShelterBox response team is now mobilized on the ground in Kathmandu and focused on the critical shelter and household items needed. In other happier news, the Royal Adelaide Show Rotary SA booth is in full swing and our 3 volunteering members have already completed their shifts. The booth looks very professional and is well placed in the Jubilee Pavilion with lots of people of all ages stopping by and engaging. It was great to see Rotary getting the brand out there and hopefully some new members. I personally enjoyed the opportunity to meet Rotarians from different clubs and learn about their projects. If you are heading to the show make sure to go say hi.
We've got a busy month coming up with our Catherine House garden makeover project booked for 2 consecutive Sunday mornings, 20th and 27th. If you are able to help out either date please get in touch with me. In our hunt for good wine, we managed to acquire the last pallet of Jim Barry’s special offer partnership shiraz for the McGrath Foundation (they receive $2 a bottle). The Foundation’s goal is a specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurse to all Australian families experiencing breast cancer (1 in 7 women). So, while supporting them, you can also help our Rotary Club of Adelaide Light’s own charitable work.

A man and his wife were awakened at 3:00 am by a loud pounding on the door. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push.
"Not a chance" says the husband, "it is 3:00 in the morning!" He slams the door and returns to bed.
"Who was that?" asked his wife. "Just some drunk guy asking for a push" he answers.
"Did you help him?" she asks. "No, I did not. It is 3:00 in the morning and it is pouring rain out there!"
"Well, you have a short memory," says the wife. "Cant you remember about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped us? I think you should help him and you should be ashamed of yourself!"
The man gets dressed and goes out into the pouring rain. He calls out into the dark, "Hello, are you still there?"
"Yes" comes back the answer.
"Do you still need a push?" calls out the husband.
