Combined Dinner Event10 June - At last night’s Board Meeting, it was decided to combine our annual Rabbie Burns dinner on Wednesday 10 June with our Club’s 40th Anniversary celebration (which falls on 12 June). With a combined dinner, entertainment, haggis-spearing, and whisky sauce, we’ll also organise a tribute to our Club’s milestone. Past members are welcome to attend to celebrate. Information from John Wotherspoon – who organises Rabbie’s tribute each year – will be appearing soon and we’ll send the invitation to former members.
For the past three years of my Presidency, our Board has been meeting at JW’s home every second month as a more central meeting place. I decided to do a pastel portrait of John and Deborah’s dog Fergus and their grand-fur-baby Ruby as a thank you gift, and presented it to Deborah last night.

On behalf of the Club, President Elect Kirsti was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from William’s Wardrobe, one of the many Community projects we undertake to help clothe or feed people in need on the streets of Adelaide.

In our hunt for good wine, we managed to acquire the last pallet of Jim Barry’s special offer partnership shiraz for the McGrath Foundation (they receive $2 a bottle). The Foundation’s goal is a specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurse to all Australian families experiencing breast cancer (1 in 7 women). So, while supporting them, you can also help our Rotary Club of Adelaide Light’s own charitable work.
