Stories
President's Pen
Our heartfelt condolences to former Club President Deborah Wotherspoon on the passing of her 95 year old mother, Minyon Pfeiffer, on Monday 9 December. On behalf of the Club, we sent a bouquet of flowers and sympathy card to Deborah and John from Tynte Flowers today. John told me that Minyon was a leading light in her community of Mt Barker being very active in her church group and other community services and was loved by all her knew her. Our thoughts are with you both and your extended family at this time.

Our Retail Rob (McLennan) has been working his magic again by organising deliveries of Christmas Trees for sale at Bunnings Kent Town. On the first weekend, we managed to sell the whole delivery of 50 trees and nine tree stands. Our thanks to Ian, Max, Jody, John, Yulieth, Alvaro, Avo, Thomas, Kirsti and Rob for the two days of sales.

We also relished the camaraderie at our Bunnings Mile End BBQ on Monday 9 December. Our thanks to all three shifts of volunteers – Paul E, friend Tony Mortimer, Yvette, Lili, Di, friend Liz Suarez, Angus, Bruce, Ian and son Max, and Rob. A very busy day throughout all shifts but with everyone in an early Christmas spirit, it was a very pleasant day.

Below are additional photos of members’ families and Club friends enjoying our Christmas Croquet Challenge dinner and croquet matches. Our three families with children were handed family Christmas gift packs to enjoy. Thanks, Kirsti, for the additional photos from the 30 November event.

Our Club officially stops meeting for a few weeks around Christmas/New Year. We will be holding a Coffee Catch-up on 19 December, but then we will recess until Thursday 9 January for breakfast. Our next Coffee Conversation will be in late January.

For our last official meeting for 2024, see you this Thursday for breakfast at the South Terrace Croquet Club at 7.00am. The sunrises are usually stunning at this time of the morning!

Best wishes and have a great week. Yvette, President.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To have fun and engage interest from new members and friends as we use our strengths for a better world here and abroad - a welcoming, flexible group having fun doing hands-on activities for positive impact.

OUGH stands for O as in Dough

PHTH stands for T as in Phthisis

EIGH stands for A as in Neighbour

TTE stands for T as in Gazette

EAU stands for O as in Plateau
