Second Chances

Helen was born in Sydney and was the first Rotary Youth Exchange Student to Indonesia in the early seventies.

She became a registered nurse in NSW in the late seventies and after a career in nursing for 10 years, commenced a career in public relations. This led her into local government and Defence for a further 10 years, before joining her husband Geoff in forming Prison Fellowship in South Australia in 1994.

For the next 20 years. In February 2015 they formed an exclusively South Australian organization – Second Chances SA which recently celebrated three years of successful initiatives for PKs – prisoner’s kids.

Helen has a passion for prison reform and for the plights of children of prisoners – the innocent and invisible victims of crime.

Helen and Geoff have two adult sons - both South Australian – who have left home to pursue their careers. The eldest is 33 year old Rhett recently married, who is the Inventory Manager Bickfords Australia in Salisbury. While Dean is the 28 year old singer/dancer who has completed his degree in dance in Melbourne, has taught English in Beijing China, now studying his Masters in Education at the University of NSW.

Helen and Geoff live in the Adelaide Hills in Kenton Valley south of Gumeracha with a few cattle.
