Life with a Guide dog

Bruce will tell us about life with his guide dog, who will accompany him to the meeting.

Born in Adelaide, in 1954, Bruce spent his childhood in Adelaide and Mt Gambier where he enjoyed  a number of activities including Scouts.

On his return to Adelaide, with his family, he studied at Adelaide University in preparation for a career in Teaching.  While at university he met his wife, Anne, whom he married before moving to Whyalla to take up high school teaching.  After some years in the class room Bruce made a move into Information Systems Management.

At the age of 40 Bruce was diagnosed with a condition which resulted in blindness.

Having retired early Bruce spends his time involved in voluntary work for a number of organisations.  Anne and Bruce have two sons who are married to two lovely girls! Violet  and Mikayla are their grand daughters.

During the AFL season Bruce attends all the Crows’ home games he can accompanied by Wallace, his Guide Dog, and one of his sons Peter. Keely, Bruce’s first Guide Dog, is enjoying her retirement with Anne and Bruce.
