(Friday meeting) Projects in Peru – people who live in poverty: Rotary in action

Trevor is a past president of Stirling Rotary and has recently joined the Unley club.  He and his wife Andrea are both experienced teachers and have travelled extensively including to South America on 4 occasions.  In 2008 they spent 8 weeks as volunteers in Cusco Peru with an organisation called Peru’s Challenge, and in November 2009 returned to Cusco to distribute Christmas gifts to children who live in poverty in the Andes Mountains near Cusco. On this trip the opportunity to do more for these children and their families arose. Through Rotary International a school bus was provided for a remote community in the Andes Mountains in 2010.

In August 2011 Trevor and Andrea organised a group of Rotarians and their partners to travel to Cusco as part of an exchange program, and just recently in April/ May 2015 Trevor again travelled to Cusco to investigate the establishment of a Health Service for the people in the mountains near Cusco.
