Wilderness in Nepal

Dr Sally Nobbs OAM is chairperson of Wilderness in Nepal (WIN) Ltd and a science teacher at Wilderness School in Adelaide.  WIN is a not for profit organization involved in supporting the Bhadure Community in the Annapurna Region and the Junbesi Community in the Everest Region of Nepal.  It has worked, in conjunction with Wilderness School, to fund salaries for teachers and medical personnel, give scholarships to girls in rural Nepal, and fund the operating costs for a Boarding School for girls in Bhadure as well as other activities.

WIN’s last project involved funding the rebuilding of the Junbesi Secondary School which had been badly damaged in the 2015 earthquake that devastated Nepal, and its current project is to help the Junbesi community to build a Birthing Centre. The Nepali Government has granted the Kushudebu Public Health Mission a charter to build and run the Birthing Centre in conjunction with UNICEF. 

Sally has a PhD in organic chemistry and her other talents include high achievement as a hockey player in earlier years, gaining national selection as a junior.  Those skills are now being applied to her evolving prowess as a golfer.
