The Sunrise group, with the help of the noon group, has been participating in the Elephant Rock Bike event for a number of years as course marshals. This year's event is on Sunday June 5th. This is a fundraiser for our combined club and it just so happens that this will be the LAST such event in Douglas County due to the difficulty of finding safe routes for the riders in our fast growing area.

Many of you have helped in the past and know that a good time is had by all. The riders are very appreciative of us being there for their safety, and ringing the cow bells to cheer them on is a lot of fun. Once again, we are asking for your help.

We have 17 stations to marshal (see "Elephant Rock Stations" file at left) and we try to get at least two people at each station. All are located in Douglas County, most in Highlands Ranch/Castle Rock area relatively close to the DC Fairgrounds complex, with a few further east in Parker. The time commitment is about 3 hours at each station:
  • There are some with beginning times of 5:30am for you early risers, that end about 8:30am.
  • Others begin at 9:30am, ending around 1:00pm at the latest.
If you are available and would like a morning in the fresh air and hopefully sunshine, please contact Paul Campbell with what time you would prefer and he'll try to accommodate your wishes. Paul has a map (see "Gold Route" map link at left) and instructions for anyone who volunteers to help, as well as a cool Elephant Rock T-shirt for you to wear. There is also a free lunch at the DC Fairgrounds complex for all volunteers if you are interested.
