You are receiving this correspondence because you may have expressed some interest in the Caborca Polio Plus Trip. This is an urgent notice letting you know that the next trip to Caborca, Mexico for the 2018 Polio Plus effort will be February 23-25, 2018. There is one seat still open to Rotarians of District 5500 (and especially Sierra Vista and Tucson area left members. Please contact me immediately if you are interested.
The cost will be the same as last year, $175.00. As usual, that includes the bus ride, snacks both ways, and all meals in Mexico. The only things that it does not include are lodging at El Camino Motel in Caborca, lunch in Ajo on Friday and Sunday, and personal shopping items.
Remember, we have Rotarians who have never been on this Fulfilling and Fun-Filled trip before, and there is already a waiting list. The seat is being offered on a “first come-first serve basis. Please respond to this message or call me as soon as possible.

It will be handled personally by Noel De Sousa of Rotary District 5495. If you are interested in this trip, several members of our club have done this service project before (Bill, Ron, and Dennis, I think) and can tell you more about it.
Because the initial deadline is relatively short (Nov 3) and the number of slots on this trip is about 27 for Arizona district, you’ll need to jump on this if you are interested. Note all the criteria for selection for this project
All the details are below.

Dear Noel, and All District 5495 Rotarians RE: 2018 Polio Plus (bus) Trip to Caborca, Mexico FROM: Noel DeSousa, AZ Trip Coordinator
It’s time to start planning for this popular trip, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018. As a Rotarian in District 5495, you are eligible to participate! An overview of the trip schedule and events is attached. Below is information about how you can be selected to attend and other general information.
But your first step, if you are interested in attending, is to send the following information by return email (noel.j.desousa@gmail.com) no later than November 3, 2017: 1. Your name; 2. The name of your Rotary club, 3. District number, 4. Your cell phone number; 5. Your email address, and 6. Your Spanish proficiency (fluent, moderate, none).
As in past years, we will share one coach bus with District 5320 from Southern California. Most of our AZ contingent will include Rotarians from D-5495, but we also get to rub elbows with several Rotary friends from the Sierra Vista area of District 5500 and one or two Rotarians each from D-6170 (LA), D-6880 (AL), and D-6170 in Arkansas. Our seat allotment for D-5495 and other Rotary friends is 27.
Given the recent district merger, we anticipate that interest/demand for participation in this trip will exceed the number of seats available and thus we are outlining selection procedures to make sure that everyone who wants to participate has a fair chance and knows what we expect of each Rotarian who goes on the trip. These selection criteria and procedures apply to all attendees including those from outside D-5495.
Again, for a trip overview, please see the attached. And thank you in advance for your interest. Noel J DeSousa Assistant Governor Caborca Polio-Plus Trip Co-Coordinator RYLA Committee Camp Liaison
Prescott-Frontier Rotary Club Past President (2013-2014) Rotary Foundation Chair Prescott, AZ
NOTE: If you are getting this notice for the second time, my apologies. There was a glitch with the Clubrunner email service allowing the initial notice to only reach about 20% of D-5495 Rotarians. There fo re it is being sent again with minor modifications.
