THE FOUNDATION of the Suttons Bay-Leelanau County Rotary Club supports the youth of Leelanau County

In conjunction with the Community Service Committee of our Rotary Club, The Foundation takes an active role in the ongoing yearly support of various programs to support youth.  Each year, along with a matching grant of $3000 from the Traverse City Rotary Charities, our Foundation provides $6,525 in support of the following programs

Leelanau County Youth Programs

• Leelanau County 4-H Program—Each year our Foundation supports new and innovative 4-H programs provided by the MSU Extension Program.                                                            

• Inland Seas Scholarships - In support of the county schools, we fund “hands on” training  cruises conducted each spring by Inland Seas for all  6^th grade students  to teach them the importance of water quality in our Great Lakes and Leelanau County.

• Boy & Cub Scouts (Troop 131)----We support the leadership training of our County Scouting Community

• Rotary Life Leadership Conference—Each year we send five area Juniors & Seniors to a week end conference in Tustin, MI conducted by Rotary District 6290 dedicated to providing professional leadership training to our youth. In addition to specific leadership training they have an opportunity to interact with other future leaders from District 6290 

Support of the Suttons Bay Public Schools  

• In support of the 2011-2012 funding crisis of the Suttons Bay Public Schools, our Foundation provided a onetime $6200 donation to allow the school to meet their financial obligation so as to continue to provide the required level of education.
