Community Service:
Darrel, Community Service Chair, presented a check to Margaret Doran Everling for the White Lake Food Pantry housed by Lebanon Lutheran.
Margaret shared a new program being done at Lebanon Lutheran through a grant from the MSU Extension Office.  They are now having adult cooking classes and then sending the participants home with the ingredients to remake that day’s dish for the family.
The food pantry serves from 75-90 households per week.
Once clients get back on their feet, many of them give back in many ways to the food pantry
 
50/50:   $38 raised for the White Lake Giving Tree and John Truxell won $38 but quickly donated it back to the cause.  Thanks John!!!
 
Sgt.-For-A-Day, Tom Moore collected Happy Dollars
·         Viola gave a Happy-To-Be-Back happy dollar
·         Jerry paid a buck to encourage all Whitehall voters to support the school millage.  This provides $3million for school operation.  These dollars cannot be replaced in any other way.  This tax is paid by businesses and
non-homesteaded property owners.  It replaces an existing millage.
·         Jennie gave 3 cheers for the Tigers who are still in first place in their division despite a few losses.
 
Sgt F-A-D Tom had some eye opening trivia related to Earth Day (4/22)…things like:
                The average person uses 50 gallons of water per day
                50-70% of your home water bill is for water used outdoors on lawns, gardens, etc.
                1 tree makes only 8,000 sheets of paper
                It takes longer for plastic 6pk holder rings to decompose than a disposable diaper, hard plastic container
or an aluminum can
 
Program:   Club Assembly
·         Budgets for 2015-16 are due May 15
·         October 3 is the dinner fundraiser.  Venue not yet determined. 
·         Scholarship selection process to be concluded today
·         2 open Life Leadership slots since 2 backed out and alternates no longer available.  Have until Thursday to get paperwork in on replacements to keep same rate.  Have until May 15 to get paperwork in with $50 increased cost.  Need Dale and Kevin to help us find replacement people.  Outbound YEP candidates may be an option.
·         Jerry and Tom agreed to rejuvenate the Interact Club
·         Chile project is for a Head Start type program for 2000 preschoolers
·         Community Service committee would like to develop a brochure showing our projects and budgets for each area to use as handouts and in recruiting donations
