Message From Our President

Rotary Club of Grand Junction President
Niki Hunn-Beightel, 2024-2025
Well, here we are! With big shoes to fill after our now, Past President, Steve Shultz’s amazing year has come to an end. Thank you, Steve, for an incredible year full of comradery, hard work and a lot of fun!!
Happy New Rotary Year 2024/2025!! Our 105th Year as the Rotary Club of Grand Junction! Club 1167 in District 5470. I am grateful to be in this room full of people who care enough to take the time to be here today! Our club means the world to me. It’s like my second family. What an exciting year we have coming, The Magic of Rotary! I am honored to have been chosen to be president for this amazing year to come. Focusing on Peace, saving lives, in more ways than one, and always putting service above self!
Given this year’s theme “The Magic of Rotary” I invite all who would like to take a Magic Wand to share in remembering our theme and our purpose for the year. We as a group and individually can make a difference every day in someone else’s life. Please take a wand or two if you would like to share the Magic with another Rotarian or with someone you think might
like to share in the Magic of Rotary!
Regardless of your giving is monetarily or volunteering your time and energy to our committees, projects, our fundraisers and so much more! However, you can contribute is critical to continuing our mission to help others! One of my goals this year is to get our club closer to 100% Paul Harris Fellow. We are at about 70% right now and I’d like to get to at least 90% during my time as president. Anyone who is not a PHF now I invite you to get in touch with me so I can meet with you and strategize together on helping you get there!
I loved some of the things Stephanie Urchick, This Years Rotary International’s president, said that really resonated with me, one being “Success breeds success” that could not be more true. I think our club is proof of that! She went on to say “Building on accomplishments is a great motivator. Our power is our people” How powerful is that!! Look at how Banff has grown. Thank you, Barb Bowman, for your brainchild! We hope to see Snowball, Cards for a Cause and the Golf tournament continue grow and make even more giving available by our club to numerous charities in our valley! Also, our amazing “New member” committee being so active and interactive. Thank you Andy Sweet for your selfless time and efforts to create success in that committee!! I think it’s the best I’ve ever seen it. There are so many others I could talk about, but we might be here all day!
In closing I would like to encourage our club to stay connected, continue growing (not just as members) but personally, and to keep in mind this is a year to focus on peace and saving lives. Please wear your pins every day to share the fact that you are someone approachable if help is needed. You are part of an international fellowship of people who genuinely care. And to let people know as Rotarians we put “Service above self” as a daily practice.
Thank you, and God bless
C. Niki Hunn-Beightel
