Opportunities for the Grand Junction Rotary Club

I think it’s appropriate that RI President Holger Knaack chose “Rotary Opens Opportunities” as the Rotary International theme for the 2020-2021 year.

I’m honored to serve as the Grand Junction Rotary Club president this year. This is a challenging time for us all but we are a strong and resilient club and our members are eternally optimistic. Through Rotary we improve our lives and the lives of those we help. There are many opportunities for our club to grow and expand using technology as we begin meeting again.

My goal for the year is to engage our members and create gateways for growth with various membership options. We will be embracing technology giving members opportunities to attend meetings they may not have had in the past. We will continue to implement the ideas brought forth through the visioning committee giving members the ability to connect in new ways.

Opportunities for community support continue to come to the club. We will continue to serve the community via grants and sponsorships with the funds we generate through events, district grants and the generous donations from members.

We will continue to support our evening groups efforts as we move into the new era of meetings and will support Rotaract and Rotary Youth Exchange programs as they evolve.

The symbol for the year is open doors. The doors represent opportunities. When one is closing another is always opening. As President Knnack said “Everything we do opens another opportunity for someone, somewhere”. It is my hope to make the most of the opportunities that present themselves to the club this year and, with all my fellow Rotarians, I believe we can.
