Question of the day: what is your favorite seed?

- The Dolores High School Football Team greatly appreciates the club’s $100 donation.

- The Dolores Quilting Guild’s quilt show will be held on August 22-23; many quilted items will be on display and for sale.

- Charley Miller volunteered to purchase a gun for this fall’s rifle raffle; the gun must be in the club’s possession before we file for the raffle permit.

- A speaker is needed for next week’s meeting; Charley Miller and Chris Trusler will discuss that.

- David Sparks is selling raffle tickets for tickets to a Denver Broncos game; see Mary Sparks if you are interested in purchasing raffle tickets.

- Dave Sanford will be contacting all the schools in the county to get a count of third graders; he will order the dictionaries in September. Cortez Rotary pays for the Cortez schools’ dictionaries, but Dave orders all of them. Southwest Seed graciously participates in the dictionaries program each year by loaning the use of their loading dock and forklift to receive the books. Thanks, Robby!

Bingo: we will start hosting bingo night in September; Scott Cooper will identify and recruit a beneficiary organization, which will be responsible for providing the soup dinner. Bingo will be held on the last Tuesday of the month except for in the month of November (third Tuesday) and December (no bingo). Bingo dates are September 30, October 28, November 18, January 27, February 24, March 31, and April 28. Shawna Valdez will reserve the Dolores Community Center for these sessions. Set-up starts at 6:00 p.m.; dinner is served at 6:30; bingo play starts at 7:00. Dinner proceeds go to the Dolores Rotary Club; bingo proceeds go to the beneficiary organization.

Holiday dinner: will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Ponderosa Restaurant. This will be the last weekly meeting of 2014, and will take the place of the morning meeting that day. Socializing begins at 6:00 p.m.; dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. Menu selections and pricing forthcoming. The rifle raffle drawing will occur at 7:00 p.m., during the dinner.

Bike Race: Mark Tucker and Scott Cooper volunteered to pick up any remaining signs and flagging that were used to mark the race courses; this is a condition of the Forest Service permit that we clean up after our event.

Audit: an audit of the club’s bookkeeping is to be performed annually. Three people are needed and it takes a few hours. Mary Sparks, Deanna Truelsen, and Dave Sanford volunteered to perform this year’s audit.

Meeting adjourned by Laurel.

Guest speakers Sheryl and Ed Merritt gave an engaging and informative slide presentation about their recent trip to the Galapagos Islands.
