Greetings My Fellow Rotarians,

A moment of silence for our beloved “Papa Ted” Beckett…He will be missed and we will take a moment to talk about how much we love him on Friday.

Our World Polio Day event is officially on the EndPolio website (https://www.endpolio.org/world-polio-day#findEvent).  Look for Colorado Springs and you will see our event.  We will be having a private socially distanced screening of Disney’s Coco.  This movie is appropriate for several reason. It is family friendly and in line with Hispanic Heritage Month, Arts Month October and Halloween.  We only have 20 seats available for purchase and we will have the entire auditorium at Cinemark Tinseltown in Colorado Springs.  The event is October 25th at 2:30pm.  You can purchase your tickets using the following link:  https://checkout.square.site/buy/KDYREDETGXSZO6N6JWZAGX6Z.  After you purchase your ticket, I’ll send you an email with your ticket to get into the movie.  The proceeds from this event will be our donation to Polio Plus.  If you wish to make a contribution to Polio Plus you can do it on the Rotary.org website.  The best way is to log on at Rotary.org. Go to “Take Action” which is a drop down menu and click on “End Polio.” There’s a “Give now” button on that page. So long as you’re logged in, you’ll get points towards Paul Harris recognition, credit for the club, and the match from the Gates Foundation.  If you need help with this, get in touch with Past President Caryn Adams.

This week we will hear from an amazing artist and Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate Ashley Cornelius.  You can see her as part of the Art of Social Justice panel I did with COPPeR (https://youtu.be/OQeJdE_XPME).  Please invite your friends to join us for the meeting.  They can go to the club website www.csrotary.org and click the Zoom Link at the top of the page to register.

You have also been sent the job posting for a new club Executive Assistant.  Please look over that document and send us the resume’s of people who would be good candidates for this position.  This is a part time job with no more than 20 hrs a week worth of work.  We will discuss the pay with the candidates during the selection process.  We appreciate your help in finding someone to fill this role as soon as possible.  The email to send the resume is on the job posting.  Thank you so much for your help with this and I’ll see you on Friday.

Yours In Rotary Service,

Rodney Gullatte, Jr.

Amazon Smile in 6 steps!
As you're doing your shopping online, did you know that you can support our Rotary Club with every Amazon purchase? Here’s how:
  1. Go to smile.amazon.com (not amazon.com). Amazon Smile is the same company, same account, same password, but the Amazon Smile program gives one half of one percent of every purchase to charity. No, it’s not a lot, but it’s also not nuthin’ (to be exact: about $150 for the Club so far). So again, go to smile.amazon.com
  2. Sign into your Amazon account as you normally would
  3. On the very top left of the page, next to the AmazonSmile logo, are three horizontal bars. Click there for the drop-down menu.
  4. Scroll ALL the way down to “Your AmazonSmile”; it should be the last option right before “Sign Out”; Click on “Your AmazonSmile”
  5. On the right side of the page, click on the “change charity” box under Your current charity (Note: If you are currently supporting another charity, that’s awesome! These instructions are for those who are not doing so. Also, if you have not previously selected a charity, your default option will be St. Judge Children’s Research Hospital.)
  6. Type in Community Service Fund of the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs; click Select
  7. That’s it. You’re all set. Just remember to go to Smile.Amazon.com when you shop from now on.
