Folks, this is going to be a very brief newsletter this week. First, there is NO FRIDAY MEETING TOMORROW. You'll be pretty lonely if you do show up at the Antlers, and the desert table will be even more lackluster than usual.
The following Friday's meeting will be at the Mining Exchange, and it will be a good one. PLEASE make sure that you RSVP to Claudine as soon as possible. Please RSVP for any guests you'll be bringing. We pay for an exact number of meals at the Mining Exchange, so a precise headcount is important.
In between this Friday and next, there is the tiny matter of the Flight gala. If you have not participated yet in some way in this effort, stop reading immediately and do so. Buy a ticket. Make a donation to the Service Fund or The Rotary Foundation. Call me and buy some raffle tickets. Call Kay and Jody and offer to work the event if you weren't coming because of the cost. Post about it on social media and invite your friends to bid on the petite butterflies on-line. Whatever it is you have to give: money, time, or a bullhorn, no one but you is going to play your part. For the last twelve years, our club has only had one major fundraiser each year. Although we've had fun with smaller fundraisers and likely will again, this is the premier event for the 2019-2020 Rotary Club of Colorado Springs.
As in past years, I am overwhelmed and gratified at the work that goes into putting this event together and the number of people who contribute in myriad ways, large and small. We will be successful this year because you make us so. But by that, I mean you, dear reader. Not just you, Kay and Jody. Not just you, the Flight Committee. I mean you, fellow Rotarian. If you're doing your part, then I thank you for being part of this effort, and I invite you to take ownership of its success.
Okay, I'll be more eloquent next week. I'll tell you about how successful and fun the Planet Walk was. We'll tell stories about the best parts of the Flight gala. We'll continue our focus on supporting education and literacy. But now, RIGHT NOW, we still have a lot of work to do. Let's get to it. It's crunch time.
Part III of the Rotary Leadership Institute is offered September 14 in the meeting room of the Rockrimmon Public Library. It is not necessary to attend Parts I and II before attending Part III. Saturday, September 21 is the 2019 Bob Carlone Sporting Clay Shoot hosted by Rotary Club of East Colorado Springs. Proceeds benefit Trampled Rose. The event takes place at the Pikes Peak Gun Club in Colorado Springs, CO.
