I wasn't able to be at the meeting last week and I'm so grateful that Past President Caryn Adams was willing to step in! I heard you all sang a song and it's uber fun to sing when Caryn or Dennis or Rodney are near!
Sometimes I have to be on repeat because it's important!
We are on the countdown...15 more days until the REVEAL event at Pioneers Museum on Sept 3. We promise it will be super fun! Live music (thanks to Andy Vick) and a food truck and lots of artists and Rotarians! The artists may even have art items for sale at the REVEAL!
I hope you've heard already...21 days from now will be our Rotarian Happy Hour, hosted by Rotarian Wayne Smisek at The Lawrence Dryhurst Gallery, 122 E Kiowa. It is open to all Rotarians in our club and there will be beverages and light apps! Wayne displays our petite butterflies in his gallery windows so we will have a chance to get some up-close time with those beautiful creations!
And in 29 days, on September 17, our Rotary District Governor Becky Smith will be visiting our club! We're going to make this a very special meeting so dust off your hats & tails! (Ok, seriously let's just not use our shirt sleeves as napkins that week Well, maybe that was just me. )
Then 37 days from today will be FLIGHT 2021! This countdown makes me so excited and so nervous-breakdown-y but I know it will be spectacular! We have a huge group of very committed Rotarians who are working diligently to pull off another virtual event and raise a lot of money so our club can do our amazing work in the community and around the world!
Did you know that today is World Photo Day? This week's Random Awesome Deed is to take a photo on your phone of one of your loved ones from your eyes. Imagine how loved they will feel if you text them the picture and explain to them how much you love it when they...make that face or get so thrilled about something or chew on their lip or the glow after exercising (when everyone thinks they look their worst!) or when you see them thinking deeply when you know that means something great is mulling around in their brain or even sleeping. My littles always looked so angelic when they slept and I'd give a lot of dollars to go back and enjoy those moments a whole lot more when they were happening.
We can be creative and help someone feel like a special someone. I can't wait to do this MANY times in the next week!
Now let's go forth, be great stewards of Rotary and Catalysts of Caring in our Community!

Raffle Tickets
Raffle tickets are available! As in years past, we are asking each Rotarian to take responsibility for selling or buying 10 raffle tickets priced at $10 each. The prize is a stunning butterfly created by local celebrity artist, Al B. Johnson. The raffle squad this year is Jenn Cancellier, Cody Burket, and Caryn Adams. Tickets can also be purchased at the front desk of The Gasper Law Group at 128 South Tejon, Suite 100. All money and stubs need to be returned before the Flight event on September 25. Please let Caryn Adams know ASAP if you need your raffle tickets mailed to you; her email is caryn@gasperlaw.com.

Flight Install (Sept. 1st, 9 am-12 pm): Volunteers are needed to transport the butterflies/dragonflies from Status Symbol Auto Body (322 E. Cucharras St. 80903) to the Pioneer’s Museum at 9 am and to assist in the install of the butterflies/dragonflies at the Pioneer’s Museum lawn. For transport, we are needing Rotarians with large trucks or trailers to assist in moving the large items and for the install, those who can manage heavy lifting are greatly appreciated!
Flight Reveal (Sept. 3rd, 4-8 pm): Volunteers are needed on Friday, Sept. 3rd from 4-8 pm.
Volunteers will initially meet at Status Symbol (322 E. Cucharras St. 80903) to transport the petite butterflies to the Pioneers Museum and set them up inside. Three volunteers will monitor the butterflies inside (1 at each butterfly table) and three volunteers will be stationed outside to assist with other needs of the event.
At the end of the event (7:30pm), volunteers will assist with transporting the butterflies from the Pioneers Museum to the Dryhurst Gallery.
