Please consider volunteering at least three hours of your time to participate as Scoring Panelists and Presiding Judges.  If you’ve participated before or if you’ve never participated but want to – this is your opportunity to see our Southern Colorado youth in action.  They, in turn, will benefit from your inspiration, encouragement and motivation.

Rounds start at:
  3:00 pm Friday February 5th
9:00 am Saturday morning February 6th
1:30 pm Saturday afternoon February 6th
  4:00 pm Tuesday February 9th

This spectacular event will not happen without your participation.

Please read this letter from Mr. Jason Downie, Coordinator for the Southern Colorado tournament:

Case Summary:  On March 6, 2020, the head coach of the Colorado High School mock trial team, McKenzie Brackman, was found dead in the doorway of his home.  He had been stabbed in the back by an unknown intruder.  Ring videos captured the intruder going into the home, but the intruder was wearing a mask and gloves.  The police concluded that a mock trial team member, Avery Becker, killed coach Brackman after breaking into McKenzie Brackman’s home to vandalize it and being surprised by Brackman.  Cell tower records place Avery Becker’s phone in the vicinity of McKenzie Brackman’s house, and text messages sent by Avery Becker spell out the plan to break into coach Brackman’s house.  Accordingly, Avery Becker has been charged with felony murder and burglary.  The defense claims that, at the time of the murder, Avery Becker was with another mock trial student, Taylor Perkins, looking for Avery’s cell phone that had been lost – or that had actually been stolen by a student who set-up Avery to take the fall for the murder.

E-mail me if you want to volunteer, include your contact information and the round(s) you choose. Give me you first and second choice for a time slot. Put MOCK TRIAL in the subject line of your email.

I look forward to hearing from you on or before Thursday January 28th.

Thanks again,
Charlie Brown
