History of Trolley Cars in Colorado Springs

John Haney, the Author of Pikes Peak Trolley's will share the fascinating history of the Colorado Springs & Interurban (and its predecessor, the Colorado Springs Rapid Transit Co.), electric street railways whose expansive growth were intimately tied to the development of Colorado Springs, Manitou and its casino, and the Broadmoor Hotel. Unlike many streetcar systems, the one in Colorado Springs was able to survive financial difficulties for many years through the generosity of Winfield S. Stratton, a local miner turned multi-millionaire who financed not only the streetcar but also many of the urban amenities which still dot Colorado Springs.
