Bio:
Whitney Yeager, Education & Outreach Coordinator with One Chance to Grow Up, will share a high-level, nonpartisan overview of emerging challenges facing youth following marijuana legalization, including high-potency THC products, labeling gaps, and regulatory efforts aimed at improving child safety. Whitney focuses on empowering individuals and communities through impactful educational initiatives. As a former public school teacher and a parent forever impacted by the loss of her son to Cannabis-induced Psychosis, she intimately understands the potential harms of high-potency marijuana both in the classroom and at home. Whitney will discuss practical prevention strategies and how communities can better protect kids from today’s dangerous and deceptive drugs.

Attendees will recognize current delivery methods and how the marijuana industry is working to help kids deceive their parents and teachers. They will also learn about the strength and impact of high-potency THC products on mental health, as well as the stages and characteristics of Cannabis-Induced Psychosis (CIP), Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD), and Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS). They will understand the irreversible damage high-potency marijuana can cause to the developing brain. We provide talking points and strategies for conversations with young people about this difficult topic, as well as support materials such as "Marijuana Free Zone" stickers, educational posters, and informative handouts.
