Community Service Planning Meeting

Join us at the communicy service planning meeting to discuss upcoming projects and share new ideas for the future. 

Here is an overview of what was discussed at the previous meeting on June 21st: 

Projects discussed: Theme for next year is, Rotary Connects the World

• July:
  • Painting at Queen Palmer – July 20^th, Carol Bach will provide details soon, but if interested save the date for the 20^th!
• August:
  • Support North Club with Tap N’Golf Fundraiser – Caryn will connect with details and send out soon.
  • Late August: Provide Solar System lesson to local elementary school to support planet walk
• September:
  • Support Planet Walk Sept 7^th  
  • Flight Sept 14^th
• Oct:
  • State/District Convention at Mt. Princeton, encourage attendance
  • Last week of Oct is World Interact Day – Carol will work with Interact club to come up with possible project
• Nov:
  • VFW Poppy Drive Weekend of Nov 9^th
  • Cougars Care Thanksgiving Event- 2 days to volunteer (Date TBD) Day 1 Sort and Pack/Day 2 Assist Families with Pick-up
  • Supporting One Nation Rally Together – Cass will provide contact information for Kathy for One Nation to see what the specific need is. Is under represented group that does not receive a lot of support. They provide donations to reservations in South Dakota. C/S Rotarian Steve Kidd is currently working in SD on reservation, could be liaison. Discussed coat drive in November
• Dec:
  • Santa Day @ Queen Palmer
  • Columbia Christmas Project – Christmas Gift shopping for families at Columbia Elementary (Shopping may occur before black Friday, present wrapping 1^st or 2^nd week of December)
  • Bell Ringing for Salvation Army throughout month – Caryn will follow up for new contact for dates, anticipate large number who want to volunteer to honor Craig Whitney
• Feb: Mock Trial

Other topics discussed:

Future project ideas for Karen Kantor & Partners in Housing or Gloria Brooks & Pikes Peak Hospice.

The club will be planning 1 social event each month.

Caryn mentioned looking into a possible Pub Crawl, Sam will connect with friend who is working for LocalMotive Party Bus (Coordinates pub crawls, both walks and by bus)

We would like to see people sharing their story at Friday meetings (I.E. Bill Savage with the North Club organizes Pathways Program providing internships to non-traditional kids to shadow professionals). Have them share the impact of the program or have someone who benefits from a project above share their experience and impact.
