North Colorado Springs Rotary

Symbol of Freedom Flag Program

The North Colorado Springs Rotary Club Foundation and local Boy Scout Troops #287 and Troop #21, invite local residents of Mountain Shadows, Pinon Valley, Mesa Crest, Pleasant Valley and the Old North End, to join the Symbol of Freedom Flag Program which is a service for displaying the American Flag, our symbol of freedom, on 5 days each year, consisting of:
Memorial Day
Flag Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veteran’s Day
We have conducted this Symbol of Freedom Flag Program for 13 years and have raised over $135,000 over that period of time.  Our customers make a tax deductible donation of $45 for one year, or $75 for two years, of service.  Typically we raise about $10,000 each year, which is split 50/50 between the Boy Scout Troops and the North Colorado Springs Rotary Club Foundation (NCSRCF), a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt public charity.
The NCSRCF utilizes the proceeds of this program to support its humanitarian projects that address the issues of education and poverty for those in need locally and internationally.  In addition, NCSRCF supports other local youth-related programs and charitable organizations.  The Foundation has underwritten a two-day Ethics Training Seminar for the freshman class at Doherty High School for the last ten years.  To date, we have provided this training to more than 7,000 students.  Recently we started a second Ethics Program with the Life Skills Center of Colorado Springs, which offers a high school diploma to at-risk and drop-out youth in our community.
