Meeting Minutes May 4, 2015

 
The meeting was called to order by immediate past president, David Jahn.
Wendell Davelaar said the prayer.

Announcements:
  • Dianna George has posters for your place of business to advertise the Spring In To Dance program on Saturday, May 16th.
  • Andrea announced that the next game show planning meeting is Wednesday at 6 pm at Smith & Co..  Next Monday's program will be of a sample of games.
  • Phil Becker announced that there will be a Special Olympics picnic dinner on May 21st from 5:30 - 8 pm.  Volunteer sign-up sheet is being passed around.
 
Fines:
  • Craig is happy that his daughter graduated from Michigan Tech.
  • Teresa was happy to get through a busy, fun-filled, family weekend
 
Program:
 
Rob Laitinen from the Chippewa County Road Commission joined us today to speak about the Proposal 1 on the May 5th ballot.  The proposal is to remove sales tax on fuel and increase MI sales/use tax to 7%.  This will allow many other laws to go into effect, re-appropriate funds, and increase the budget for roads in our cities, villages, and counties.  It's recommended by Rob, the Chippewa County Road Commission Manager, and Linda Basista, the Sault Ste. Marie City Engineer to vote in favor or this proposal.
