Batavia Rotary Club members meet Group Study Exchange members from Belize.

Batavia Rotary Club member and past president, Mary Raymond, introduced five GSE members from the Central American country of Belize. Mary coordianted the team's visit to Western New York and even played host to some of the team members. Ken Witt, Batavia Rotary member also hosted GSE team members for several nights at his home. Belize, known as British Honduras before 1981, is rich in natural beauty and includes beautiful beaches, quaint cities and Mayan ruins. The team was lead by Errol Robateau, a recently retired Salvation Army major, and included four teachers. Education is compulsory for children ages 5-14. Belize's strong network of schools supports the value they place in educating their youth.
