There are 5 level 1 and 10 level 2 trauma centers in the State of Georgia.
There are a total of 23 trauma centers but 30 needed for the State of Georgia
Level 1 trauma centers require a surgeon in house, residency program and medical research program.
Level 2 trauma centers require definitive injury care, 24/7 surgeons for responce in 15 minutes but surgeons are in house at NEGHS
Northeast Georgia Trauma Center is the third busiest ER in Georgia.
