Public Service Commissioner

Commissioner Echols, one of 5 commissioners, made an excellent presentation sharing with us the breath and scope of the Georgia Public Service Commission.  He talked about the growing influence of Natural Gas at the expense of Coal.

A hot buttion is the 1,000,000 Georgians with free cell phones which the PSC has voted to levy a $5 per month fee.  over 117,000 have TWO free phones.  They are loaded monthly with 250 minutes.  By the way the phone company gets $10 per phone per month!....$10,000,000 per month of federal tax money!

Solar expansion increased from 5 mw to 256 mw since 2010 in Georgia.  

He shared a story and showed his certificate as a High School Senior where he received a student of the year award from the Atlanta Airport Rotary Club with an award of $50 and a set of Zigglar tapes from Truett Cathy with a challenge.  Truett was his mentor to greater things.  Great story of the potential influence of Rotary and the Interact Clubs.
