The new Boys & Girls Club of Commerce was dedicated March 31 as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Jackson County and the City of Commerce welcomed supporters and guests to the celebration.
The new club has been constructed at 45 Ridgeway St., just off Homer Road and across the neighborhood street from the Commerce-donated building which served as the club’s home since 2006.
The 7,000-square-foot facility, designed by 2WR Architecture, Interiors & Planning, and constructed by Braselton’s BM&K Construction which also sponsored the facility’s playground along with Huber Engineered Woods, First Baptist Church of Commerce and a donation made in honor of Ward 1 Commerce City Councilman Archie Chaney, has a computer learning center honoring Chief Professional Officer Michael R. Williams which was a special dedication from Jackson EMC made in recognition of Williams’ eight years of leadership in Jackson County and more than 30 years of service to the Boys & Girls Club organization.
The building also has an arts and crafts room in which the dedication ceremony was held because of impending rain and a game room, donated by Southeast Toyota Distributors, as well as a fitness room and activity room with kitchen.
