2017 RI Convention

Atlanta on June 21, 2010 won the right to host the 2017 Rotary International convention. The convention June 10-14, 2017 at the Georgia World Congress Center will attract more than 30,000 Rotarians from around the world, and they will occupy an estimated 41,000 hotel rooms. Their average length of stay is estimated to be 10 days, which means a big economic jolt for the city's tourism and hospitality industry. "Hosting the 2017 Rotary International convention is a big win for Atlanta and the state of Georgia," said William Pate, president and CEO of Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB). Atlanta's bid was helped by the fact 2017 will be the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation, which was started in Atlanta in 1917. Atlanta leaders also have pledged to raise $2 million to help defray the costs of hosting the convention. (Every Rotarin in Georgia will be assessed $25.00 per year to support this convention.)
