On Saturday, November 4, we will once again take rakes in hand to provide fall lawn cleanup to 14 seniors and shut-ins in South Minneapolis.  Without our help, these people would not otherwise be able to get their leaves raked.

When: November 4, 2017 8:40 AM
Where: 2800 E Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55406

8:40 AM – we will gather in the northeast corner of the US Bank parking lot at 2800 E Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55406, where we will go over the logistics for the day, take group photos, and break into 3 raking teams, each of which will be assigned 4-5 yards.  Maps will be distributed to help volunteers find each yard to which their team is assigned.

9:00 to 11:00 (11:15?) – each team rakes the assigned yards.

11:00/11:15 to 1:00 – those volunteers who are interested adjourn to Matt’s Bar (3500 Cedar Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55407) for Jucy Lucys, fries, and beverages of their choice.

What You Need to Know:

  • This is a family friendly event.  You are encouraged to bring spouses, significant others, friends, and children (who are old enough to be of some assistance and to understand the concept of giving back to others less fortunate).
  • You should bring your own rakes (label your rakes and other equipment with your name on a piece of tape; things can go missing), a good pair of gloves, and other items you think would be helpful for yard cleanup, such as a leaf blower.  We will supply compostable bags which, when filled, the teams will place in the alley behind the houses.
  • You will be given a make-up credit for your participation.
  • This is a rain or shine event (unless the weather is really bad, in which case you should contact Gary Mosiman at carleymosiman@msn.com or (612) 805-3795).  So please make sure to dress for the weather.
  • You must register yourself and all guests on the COLRC website so that we will know how many people will be helping out that day.
  • You will have a great time!
