Interfaith World Peace Day Celebration to be held on May 9, 2015
Interfaith understanding starts with open conversations among various religions. Religion and religious belief are often an area of intense conviction and passion.
To celebrate the deepest and most profound expressions of spiritual insight which lie at the core of all major religions, the Rotary District 7510 in collaboration with the Somerset County Cultural Diversity Coalition and and community interfaith groups will conduct a World Peace Day Celebration on Saturday, May 9, 2015. This program will focus on celebrating a Day of Peace with spiritual music, walking meditation, Peace prayers from different faith groups, ethnic food and world flag marching ceremony. The objective of the program is to share the stories of the beliefs, the journeys of discovery and the ultimate mastery and triumphs of spiritual seekers from the view of each spiritual tradition.
Ten things you can do in your club to promote world understanding month;
Have international speakers
Inviting youth exchange students,
international scholars,
Programs with former Group Study Exchange team members,
Discussing on international related issues and topics,
Inviting local ethnic community leaders,
Presenting entertainment with an international cultural or artistic theme,
Organizing International Theme to raise funds for projects,
Learning about District International Service Projects,
Initiating Rotary Fellowship Exchange, 3-H project, Polio or other Rotary Foundation programs
And most of all getting local newspapers to cover your club’s effort to promote world understanding.
World Understanding Month is a great chance for every Rotary member to pause, plan and promote the Fourth Avenue of Service- Rotary's continued quest to promote goodwill, peace and understanding among people of the world. Thank you for making a difference in our community and around the globe.
Jarrett has lived in Somerset since 2001. He graduated from Rutgers University in 2000 with a degree in Finance. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) whose practice focuses on retirement planning. Jarrett has been with R.I.C.H. Planning Group, a full service financial planning firm, since 2003.
He and his wife Christine have been married since 2012. They are both very active in the community. Annually, they sponsor a child through Make of Wish of NJ, an organization committed to helping children with life threatening diseases. They both volunteer their time at Liquid Church (Jarrett with the Middle School Program, Christine with the Media Team). Jarrett also is a volunteer coach at his alma mater, St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, where he coaches the Chess Team.
In his spare time, he enjoys reading, running, and playing tennis.
Our club hopes to help with this project to create new International grant in Thailand. We are trying to connect with a Rotary club in Thailand to start working to develo new grant project.
