The Rotary Club Branchburg raised $32,000 since July to help our community’s “Food Insecure” people. We received $2,000 from a Rotary District Grant, $5,000 donation from Somerville Elks, and more than $5000 dollars in donation from club members as well as community members. In early November food drive, we collected more than $20,000 worth of food in four locations of the Shop-Rites stores. So far we have raised and donated approximately $32,000 to the Somerset County Food Bank.
According to survey “In New Jersey, 774,860 people are struggling with hunger - and of them 219,760 are children. 1 in 9 children struggles with hunger. People facing hunger in New Jersey are estimated to report needing $437,705,000 more per year to meet their food needs.
Please donate as much as you are able. No one should go hungry in this country, especially children. The need to continue helping our community is urgent. The money raised will be distributed to local food pantries in a check so they can purchase supplies needed the most. There is light at the end of this long tunnel.
