Operation Turkey

Operation Turkey is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit that prepares, packages, and delivers warm Thanksgiving meals to people experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, or isolation. In Houston, the effort is strongly supported by Rotary District 5890, with the Rotary Club of Greater Houston Veterans since Thanksgiving 2020. Volunteers gather the day before Thanksgiving for “Turkey Tailgate” food preparation, then return Thanksgiving morning to assemble and deliver meals across the community. Rotary District 5890 has promoted Operation Turkey–Houston as a district-wide service project, helping provide more than 10,000—and in some materials more than 13,000—Thanksgiving meals to Houston-area neighbors in need
