Rotary clubs around the world operate on a one-year cycle, running from July 1 to June 30. Leadership roles, including that of club president, typically follow this annual rhythm.

Over the past year, our club has been ably led by Richard Lazear—a dedicated Rotarian with many talents. Among his contributions, Richard played a key role in organizing the placement of U.S. and Texas flags at homes throughout the Rice Village and Memorial neighborhoods.

On June 19, Richard passed the torch to our new president, Cheryl Bressler. Cheryl, a senior nurse at Houston Methodist in the Texas Medical Center, has long been a champion of our club’s nursing scholarship program. As she steps into this new leadership role, Cheryl will take a temporary pause from her scholarship work to guide our club for the year ahead.

With her passion for community service, we look forward to new initiatives and expanded opportunities to serve. Our club remains committed to participating in at least one community service project each month, and there's always meaningful work to do—together.

The photo captures Rotary District Governor Tom Kelchner officially swearing in Cheryl as our new president. Congratulations, Cheryl—and heartfelt thanks to Richard for a year of outstanding leadership.
