The University Area Rotary Club lead the preparation of Thanksgiving meals at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in the museum district. We were joined by 100's of volunteers from the community. This year we prepared 2,700 meals and delivered them to folks in the Third and Fifth Wards and shut-ins who cannot afford the costs of Thanksgiving dinner.
The University Area Rotary Club has managed Operation Turkey in one of its four Houston locations again this year. For the second year this effort was staged at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in the museum district. Our club location in Hermann Park put us in a perfect position to support the needs of people in the Third Ward, Fifth Ward and shut-ins in our part of the general Houston area. It is a major project supported by the generous contributions of local businesses and Rotary. The 2,700 meals that had to be prepared and distributed required our club and the support of 750 volunteers from the community. This consisted of adults, teens and kids doing their part to cook, assemble and deliver the meals on Thanksgiving day all before noon. Contact us early to be part of the team in 2023.
