The Rotary Club of University Area Houston set up a special fund through our non-profit foundation to receive relief funds from Rotary Clubs across the US to aid the victims of flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Our purpose was to help the victims rebuild their lives. We chose to donate to other non-profits which were set to vet request according to IRS guidelines.
This requires a tremendous amount of paperwork and they have the systems to do this. We distributed the funds, documenting each transaction to be able to report back to our many donors on how their contributions helped and who they went to.
