California District 5240 Governor, Sandi Schwartz, visited Houston and presented plaques to the recipients, Alicia Gonzalez and Jamesha Kelly, of the $20,000.00 each in Hurricane Harvey relief. Avenue CDC, a Houston non-profit is handling the repairs on the homes of these two people.
Avenue CDC Robert Fiederien, Senior Director of Real Estate Development was there as well as many other CDC officials and workers. Mrs. Gonzales, a grandmother with several grandchildren living with her, promised to make tamales for all when her home is completed. Governor Sandi's mentor is California's Past District 5240 Governor Deepa Willingham whose husband is our member Dick. Many thanks to all who helped direct the funds to our Houston relief effort.
