ImageAt our 9 Oct, 2013 meeting three members of the Maasai (Kenya) visited and give us an update on the water wells project Rotary has helped fund.

Susan, Grace and John from the Maasai talked about how the water wells have improved their lives. Susan told us that now people only walk two miles to fetch clean water, where before they had to walk at least ten. Grace then spoke and thanked John Brown and Rotary (John Brown was our point man for the project). She thanked everyone on behalf of the community and the women in the community. John said that there are 9 villages that are being helped, which amounts to 50,000 people. He said that people have been able to continue going to school because they no longer have to spend their days getting water. He also talked about how much women have benefitted by the water project.
